What is the Select Program?
Our select program is the most competitive option for U14, U16, & U19 Spring Academy participants and brings together competitive athletes from across Ohio and Western PA to train and compete together as a dedicated group.

How do I become a part of the Select Program?
All interested athletes must be signed up for our spring academy in one of our three locations (Columbus, Cleveland, or Cincinnati) in order to tryout for the Select Program. Athletes should sign-up for the Spring Academy location that best fits their schedule and location, but if picked for the select team, are always welcome to train at any of our three locations during the week.

Athletes must attend a tryout (details below) in order to be considered for the select program. If you are unable to attend the tryout below, you must notify the staff as early as possible to make possible arrangements for another evaluation opportunity.

Approx. 35 athletes will be named to the Select Program in each age group.
From this list of selected athletes, a final roster in each age group will be selected to compete in the Regional Club Championship on June 3rd and 4th, in hopes of qualifying for the National Club Championship.

What is my commitment as select athlete?
As a select athlete, it is expected that you attend the Select practices listed below, as well as as many Spring Academy practices as possible.
Any conflicts must be communicated to the coaches as soon as possible.
By trying out for select, you are also committing to making yourself available for the Select tournaments listed below.

What are the additional fees associated with being a select athlete?
In addition to signing up for Spring Academy, there will be additional fees for extra training and tournament opportunities.

When are Select Program tryouts?
Tryouts for the select program are April 2 for all age groups (U14, U16, & U19) at Columbus Academy from 8:45am-11:30am.
All athletes, regardless of location in Ohio or Pennsylvania, should plan to attend this tryout.

When are Select Program practices?
In addition to the regularly scheduled Spring Academy practices listed above, Select athletes will practice as a dedicated group at the dates/times/locations below:
- April 2nd - Tryouts: Columbus Academy Hondros Field from 8:45-11:30am
(2 hours for each age group)
- April 23rd - Practice: Columbus Academy Hondros Field 2:00-5:00pm
(1.5 hours for each age group)
- April 30th - Practice: Columbus Academy Hondros Field 2:00-5:00pm
(1.5 hours for each age groups)
- May 7th - Practice: Columbus Academy Carlin Field 9am-12pm
(1.5 hours for each age group)
- May 21st - Practice: Columbus Academy Carlin Field 9am-12pm
(1.5 hours for each age group)

What are the Select Program tournaments?
In addition to the optional Spring Academy 7v7 tournaments listed above, Select athletes will be assigned to compete in 11v11 tournament opportunities, including but not limited to (additional fees apply):
- April 15-April 16: Ann Arbor Play Day
- May 13-May 14: Midwest Classic League (Round 2 at Univ of Michigan)
- June 3-June 4: Regional Club Championships (Miami University)
- June 3-June 4: Regional Club Cup (Miami University)
- June 13: Midwest Classic League Finals (Miami University)
- If qualified from RCC, June 23-25: U14 National Club Championship (Virginia Beach, VA)
- If qualified from RCC, June 26-28: U16 National Club Championship (Virginia Beach, VA)
- If qualified from RCC, June 29-July 1: U19 National Club Championship (Virginia Beach, VA)

** All interested SELECT Cincinnati ATHLETES CAN SIGNUP HERE.  YOUR WEEKLY SKILL TRAINING WILL BE IN C'bus on Tuesday evenings and a few Sunday's in C'bus, as well.  All select athletes from Cinci are also welcome to attend the Regional League in Cinci when they do not have a conflict with select trainings or tournaments.

Regional League Program:
This program is a mix of league games and clinic-based training.  Game schedules and rosters will be distributed before the season begins.

U19: Birthdate in 2003-2005
U16: Birthdate in 2006-2007
U14: Birthdate in 2008-2009
U12: Birthdate in 2010-2011

​Youth Clinics:
This program is an introductory youth program.  No experience is necessary.  FHL will provide sticks to use for each player, if they do not own one, but athletes will need to bring their own mouth guard and shin guards.
