U12 & U14 Training Academies

Youth Training Academies

Young players looking to get involved in field hockey in a fun and loving environment should participate in our indoor training academy! We will hold weekly practices were players can learn new skills and play in a non-pressure environment, yet learn the basics skills from the best. In addition, all athletes participating in the Training Academy will be placed on a team and participate in an optional regional tournament.

U10/U12 Training Academy

FHL Youth Directors will train young athletes and teach the basics of indoor field hockey. Indoor field hockey is played on a large court enclosed with low boards so the ball can be played off the wood. Indoor field hockey is also played 6v6 which allows for athletes to always be in the action. The space is smaller than traditional fields and therefore, players tend to improve their stick skills in this environment. Athletes participating in this academy will travel to a regional tournament.

Note: Age is as of 1/1/19
Example: If you are 11 years old on 1/1/19, you will be in the Under-12 (U12) age group. If you are 12 years old on 1/1/19, you will be in the Under-14 (U14) age group.

U14 Training Academy

FHL Youth Directors will train young athletes and teach the basics of indoor field hockey and incorporate the early basics of the tactical game. Indoor field hockey is also played 6v6 which allows for athletes to always be in the action. The space is smaller than traditional fields and therefore, players tend to improve their stick skills in this environment. If you want to take your game to the next level and get prepared for the high school game, this is a great opportunity!

Our U14 athletes will have an option to tryout for an Elite team that will travel to PA February 16-18 to complete in the National Indoor Championship (NIT) and will participate in other tournaments in preparation for NIT.

Note: Age is as of 1/1/18
Example: If you are 11 years old on 1/1/18, you will be in the Under-12 (U12) age group. If you are 12 years old on 1/1/18, you will be in the Under-14 (U14) age group.
